How to Become a Trustee

Each Board of Trustees for Washington Community Colleges is composed of five trustees who are appointed by the governor for terms commencing October 1 of the year in which appointed.

Every trustee shall be a resident and qualified elector of the college district. No trustee may be an employee of the community and technical college system, a member of the board of directors of any school district, or a member of the governing board of any public or private educational institution. Highline’s district includes the three school districts of Highline, Federal Way, and Tukwila.

Those interested in becoming a trustee and meet the above requirements are encouraged to send a letter of interest to the governor. Send your letter to:
