Area Report for Board of Trustees

Goal 4: CULTURE AND CAPACITY – Become an anti-racist college through intentional development of employees, facilities, and systems that support student success and close equity gaps.

The HR team spent much of December focusing on our strategic tasks related to employee job descriptions. The goal of this project is to:

  1. Ensure Human Resources maintains a repository for all official Highline job descriptions
  2. Ensure all job descriptions are accurate
  3. Create consistent templates
  4. Ensure all job descriptions have pertinent information (essential functions, physical and mental requirements for accessibility purposes, work modality (hybrid, remote, onsite), travel requirements)

This project will take some time as there are many dependencies requiring collaboration. The goal is to have it completed by the end of 2026.

We are also in the midst of performance evaluations. We are providing this annual training to all supervisors of employees to ensure reviews are conducted in a productive manner and goals are aligned to the college strategy.

In collaboration with EDT, HR is pleased to offer a leadership training facilitated by Dr. Michael Cuellar on January 29. This session will focus on helping participants assess and strengthen their individual leadership styles through self-reflection and internal development. Key topics will include self-leadership, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal effectiveness.
