Throughout 2021-2022, IA has focused on the success of Highline students by focusing on supporting completion and increased learning opportunities, equity gains and fiscal effectiveness. This area report reflects on some of the activities and accomplishments in April 2022 that are aligned with these goals.
In pursuit of increased learning opportunities, members of the IA team have provided ongoing marketing, communications, planning and outreach support to the Hub, highlighted by planning for May 13 Ribbon Cutting and sponsoring and introducing Hub team at Federal Way Chamber. The Outreach and Recruitment team provided planning and event support for the April 16 visit by the junior class of Mt. Rainier High School, members of Highline School College Spark cohort, and subsequent visits by students from Foster and Tyee High School. In addition planning is underway for the annual Y.E.L.L. summit.
In contribution to fiscal effectiveness, the Grant and Government relations team collaborated with campus colleagues to submit 4 grant proposals, including the first submission for King County Promise, a $1.6 million project, in collaboration with Highline Public Schools, Northwest Education Access (NWEA) and Becoming A Man (BAM).
In related news, Highline has been working with community partners on increasing the College’s presence with the new Light Rail Station and was able to help welcome a current neighbor as an additional neighbor in Federal Way. (Dick’s Drive-In to open new location in Federal Way)
And mark your calendars for the HC Foundation’s 60th Anniversary activities throughout May, with most activity occurring online, and a special opportunity on Tuesday, May 17th Highline Legends Ping Pong Tournament.
