Area Report for Board of Trustees
Auxiliary Services
- As of the writing of this report, the Campus View student housing complex is about to welcome the very first batch of student residents. We look forward to the grand opening ceremony on Thursday, December 13, 2018.
- Conference and Event Services is in the process of implementing a new campus-wide room scheduling system, 25Live, to enhance customer service and accessibility for both on-campus and off-campus users.
Facilities
- Building 26 Renovation project is reaching 30 percent completion status with the contractor starting construction of interior walls and space.
- As part of Highline College Campus Master Plan, we are engaging with City of Des Moines on developing a comprehensive campus-wide signage project. The first phase will involve the redesigning of entrance/exit signs.
- As reported previously, the Facilities Department is still in the process of recruiting several replacement positions, including Custodial Services Manager and Associate Director.
Finance & Budget
- We are pleased to announce the appointment of (Gavin) Zijie Xie as Procurement Specialist. This has been a long-vacant position in our Purchasing Department. His appointment will greatly assist with the current workload.
Public Safety
- Public Safety hosted a Coffee with a Cop event on campus on November 15th. Several students attended the event and spent time in discussion with law enforcement officers.
- Public Safety is in the process of implementing a new electronic parking enforcement system through the Omnigo mobile app to replace the current paper ticketing system.
Vice President for Administration
- It is difficult to believe that 2018 is about to come to an end. On behalf of all Administrative Services staff, I would like to wish all of the Trustees a Happy Holiday and a Wonderful New Year.
- There is still much more to be accomplished next year!
