Board of Trustees

Vice President for Administration

  • The First Quarter 2021-2022 Financial Report is being provided for the Board to review.
  • Beginning with this Fall Quarter 2021, our Administrative Services Leadership Team (comprising of all directors, managers, and supervisors within Administrative Services Division) will undergo monthly training in a variety of topics from leadership to business processes in ctcLink. The intent is to enhance and expand the knowledge base of our leadership team members.

Facilities

  • Renovation work in B-12 and B-25 are expected to be completed by mid-November. Program moves are expected to take place around the winter break.
  • Facilities is working with McGranahan Architects to form a campus committee to develop a new project request report for the next round of capital project submissions with the State Board (due mid-December 2021).

Finance & Budget

  • Finance continues to experience recruitment challenges with several vacant positions.
  • An engagement letter with the Washington State Auditor’s Office for a Fiscal Year 2021 financial statements audit has been signed and auditors are expected onsite around the end of the year.
  • Finance has begun our yearlong efforts to institutionalize its procedures and knowledge, as well as to expand learning opportunities regarding finance processes and procedures.

Public Safety and Emergency Management

  • Highline College participated in the Great Washington Shakeout earthquake drill on October 21st. The entire college was instructed to Drop-Cover- and Hold when the drill alert was broadcasted over the emergency communication system. Prior to the drill, the Public Safety Office hosted an earthquake preparedness session where participants learned how to stay safe during an earthquake, build a kit, make a communication plan and other all-hazard preparation actions.
  • Public Safety conducted a defensive tactics training on Thursday Oct 28th & Friday Oct 29th at Highline College for our officers. The course covered mechanical advantage control hold maneuvers, handcuffing and escorts.

Auxiliary Services

  • The Fireside Bistro, in partnership with the HOST program, is open for business in Building 8 to a great start, by providing students and employees with espresso and pre-packaged sandwiches, pastries, and salads.
