Area Report for Board of Trustees

The HR Team has been very busy this summer. This summer we had the ability to work with two interns and show them many of the ins and outs of the Human Resource Function. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our summer interns: Yesenia Torres and Halimo Mohamed for their hard work to updating current job descriptions into our new format. To date we are more than halfway through completion. There are several blanks we will need to fill-in on the new format that did not exist on previous ones (hybrid/onsite/remote, travel, essential functions, etc.). We are hopeful to complete this work within the next few months and move on to our next step of reviewing classifications.

We have concluded our bargaining session with the WPEA bargaining team. We would like to say a huge thank you to the WPEA bargaining team: Sheena Pennel, Richard Cannefax, George Babcock, Alex Lawrence, and Gum-Lai Ross for engaging us in our first ever collaborative bargaining discussions. We were able to engage both sides in understanding needs and work together to come up with solutions that work for both our classified staff as well as the institutions. And we are hopeful that the contract will ratify.

I’d also like to give a big thank you to our management bargaining members: Danielle Slota, David Menke, Kim Hassell, Theresa Duhart, and Loyal Allen for their openness and dedication to working with our valued classified staff.

We look forward to our upcoming bargaining sessions with our new exempt Hi-Pro union over the next few months.
