Core Theme 1: ACCESS

  • The Entry Advising Department created and combined tracking methods for student appointments and visits and developed a plan with Institutional Research (IR) to view demographics. The plan will follow students “touched by Entry Advising support”, so that staff can measure quarter-to-quarter persistence and demographic trends.

  • The Pathway Advising Department is updating data collection instruments to ensure more accurate understanding of students’ preferred use of advising services.
  • The Pathway Advising Department conducted the following:
    • 191 one-on-one advising sessions in June 2022; 126 one-on-one advising sessions in July 2022; 208+ one-on-one advising sessions in August 2022.
    • The department also welcomed four new Pathway Advisors throughout the summer; search for one additional Pathway Advisor will commence in September.
  • The 2022-2023 fall athletic season has begun. The athletics staff have enrolled 110 full-time student athletes.
  • While in School Housing (WISH) Program: Student Testimony:
    • “Saido has been a great inspiration to me and I’m sure countless others. I was scared and didn’t know what to do. Sleeping in my brother’s car with him and his girlfriend. Trying to do school exams and homework was very difficult, even more so when you can’t seem to keep phones and laptops charged. This program actually saved my life especially when I felt like giving up. You guys and this program have been a huge blessing to so many. I honestly hope you keep it going, so many [students] need assistance like this. We want stability, comfort, safety and we want to be able to give these things to ourselves but without the education you can only go so far. Without this program many won’t get to make it. I again thank you so much for the job and work you do. I for one don’t take your job or time for granted and I appreciate your help that saved me and in return I would be able to save myself. My life hasn’t been easy in and out of foster care, being abused etc. I had no hope even while in school because of homelessness. With your help I have been able to regain hope and confidence. To regain strength and faith. Thank you so much. Thank you and thank you for being a blessing for so many.”
