Area Report for Board of Trustees
Goal 4: CULTURE & CAPACITY: Promote a campus culture which fosters equity and inclusivity supporting employee growth and development, and institutional capacity for transformation.
It has been a very busy season for HR. We are currently working with PERC and AFT on the request to form a new union for our exempt employees. This includes providing employee data as well as categorizing employee based on PERC definitions.
We also completed collaborative bargaining training alongside our WPEA members along with a PERC facilitator. All executive cabinet members receive training so they can participate in the future if needed. It was a full day training session where we got a chance to work together on how to understand needs and actively listen before attempting solutions. Our first bargaining session was held May 28th and will continue throughout the summer.
The Board of Trustees has initiated a presidential search and is leading this process on behalf of Highline College. HR is actively managing logistics in support of this work. An all-campus communication has been sent outlining opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to engage in the search process. Listening session feedback will be held in both face to face and online modalities.
