The scenario sought to replicate situations faced by some other colleges and universities.
- Public Safety held a Campus View town hall in coordination with Residence Life staff to discuss safety awareness and address questions regarding increasing crime. The town hall gave residents the space to provide their perspective on safety. The town hall meeting was attended by over 40 residents.
- Public Safety has implemented various measures to reduce crimes involving vehicles (motor vehicle theft, theft from vehicles, and damage to property), including real-time monitoring of cameras during the evening/night hours and supplying students with steering wheel locks. They appeared to have a positive impact on reducing vehicle crimes, with only one reported incident in Spring Quarter compared to 20 from Winter Quarter.
- Public Safety is in discussion with DM Police Department on the recent implementation of the Flock safety camera system by Des Moines to alert DMPD of stolen vehicles.
