Area Report for Board of Trustees
Core Theme 4: CULTURE & CAPACITY: Become an anti-racist college through intentional development of employees, facilities, and systems that support student success and close equity gaps.
- CIO Tim Wrye is continuing to coordinate ongoing work on updating the college’s strategic planning process, assisted by Jennifer Johnston in her role as Project Manager for the Office of the President. Working with a cross-campus representative group, a new charter and structure for a redesigned Strategic Planning Council (SPC) was proposed to Executive Cabinet and approved in February. This new, smaller group will be charged with developing a process and structure for working with subject matter experts and constituents across campus to identify and document the strategies being employed to help the college reach our strategic plan targets. Many of these strategies are already documented in Institutional Effectiveness Plans or other college efforts such as Guided Pathways or the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA). The SPC will also work to make sure all objectives in the strategic plan have documented indicators, measures, and targets, and will work closely with the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) and the Budget Advisory Council (BAC) to ensure that accreditation, planning, and resource allocation efforts are all aligned with the strategic plan. Membership of the new SPC is being finalized and will be announced in March.
In parallel, we have continued to follow our annual planning calendar, and held our annual data review with a large group of campus constituents in February. This session looked at the updated data in our 2026 Mission Fulfillment Report (MFR) to review our progress on the measures and targets reported in that document. Participants discussed their observations in small groups and that feedback was collected to help inform a follow-up session in March in which participants will review and discuss the specific status of our identified annual priorities, and make suggestions for any changes. Thanks to Lisa Bernhagen, Emily Coates, Jennifer Johnston, and Rickitia Reid for their work helping plan and coordinate these important exercises.
