Area Report for Board of Trustees
Throughout February we got into the heart of Winter Quarter, showcasing students and community connections through social media and campus newsposts. IA was present throughout the community at events with local chambers of commerce, in Olympia and bringing community leaders to campus. And we cheered the hometown Seahawks onto victory in Super Bowl LX by partnering with ACHIEVE students and other members of the community to raise the flag of the 12s!
Core Theme 1: ACCESS, Reduce Barriers and close equity gaps to access for all community members
- Communications and Marketing team continues to make progress on the migration of academic department websites. Six department sites are currently being worked on, with the goal of launching those in Spring Quarter. The team also continues to provide campus-wide website support, with a focus on improving accessibility.
- Continued series of social media posts, including ‘Registering for Spring Quarter-aka Promposal.’
- Partnered with STEM/Tech Faculty on a special Spring Scholarship opportunity supported by an additional major scholarship gift from a private donor
Core Theme 2: STUDENT LEARNING, Increase educational success, collaborate to improve
- Launched Corequisite Math video on social media channels.
Core Theme 3: COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, Create a more inclusive working environment and a more valued , visible relationship with communities we serve
- Attended Federal Way Chamber on 2/4 and supported a presentation by Andrew Powers, SBDC/StartZone on using AI in a small business environment. Also attended What’s Up Des Moines to network with Des Moines Area Businesses and CBOs/
- Provided support for ASHC Student Advocacy Day in Olympia on 2/ 5 and attended Washington State Basic Needs Coalition Day on the Hill
