Core Theme 4
Model sustainability in human resources, operations, and teaching and learning
Recruiting, retaining, and developing a high-quality workforce is Core Theme 4’s first objective. In recent months, Academic Affairs has welcomed a number of new staff, many leading key initiatives:
- Michelle Donaldson serves as Administrative Services Manager in the academic deans’ office. Most recently, she worked at Hawaii’s Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration, with 18 years of administrative support experience.
- Chantal Carrancho, Program Manager for the Federal Way Center, has led Highline’s College Career and Student Employment Center since 2015. She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and is currently a doctoral student.
- Lindsey Kealoha joins Ms. Carrancho as Program Coordinator for Federal Way. A Highline and UWT alum who grew up in Federal Way, she previously worked for Kent School District.
- Bobby Dutriex joined Highline Jan. 2 as its first Accessibility Program Manager. He comes to us from the University of Montana, where he managed U of M’s assistive technology lab.
- Timur Kuzu assumed the MESA Program Director position in February. Mr. Kuzu earned a Bachelors in Environmental Sciences and has 23 years of experience in the U.S. Air Force and the community college environment.
- Jon Kissoondyal joined Highline Jan. 14 as an Assessment and Placement Advisor. He has over five years’ experience in higher education and most recently worked at Bellevue College, where he was a Program Coordinator for the Arts and Humanities Division.
- Tania Lopez accepted a promotion to Associate Director of Placement and Faculty Advising earlier this fall, after serving more than four years as an Assessment and Placement Advisor at Highline. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from University of Washington.
Rounding out the Federal Way team, Chase Magliocca was recently hired by UWT to serve as the Highline-to-UWT Transfer Advisor there. He most recently worked for South Seattle College.
Academic Affairs Honorees and Initiatives
Highline’s Personal Fitness Trainer Program was approved as a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program (ERP)-recognized personal training program.
